Overcoming Arthritis & Rheumatism
More and more people suffer from the pains of arthritis and rheumatism.
Special clinics are open to help and prescribe for these unfortunate folk,
many of whom become crippled. Yet nothing is heard of any breakthrough
in the curing of these ailments. Hopes have been raised with the introduction
of drugs such as gold (injections) and cortizone etc., but after a time
it is found that comparatively few people derive much benefit, and often
side effects develop which can be most unpleasant and, at times, serious.
A more successful way of combating these chronic and most painful diseases
is studying natural remedies and foods. Much can be done, indeed a great
deal has been done, to ease the pains and burdens of the arthritic and
rheumatic sufferers.
Many lessons can and should be learned through illness; it may be patience,
or that irritability must be overcome but perhaps the hardest is the lesson
of 'acceptance'. This does not mean that the disease is accepted with
resignation and a feeling that nothing more can be done; but rather that
one should not kick against it, but go along with it and do all in one's
power to overcome it. This cannot be achieved by physical means alone,
but by the alteration in thinking to a positive attitude that all will
be well. It must be remembered that no two people are alike, and whilst
many complain that they suffer from arthritis or rheumatism, when describing
their aches and pains one patient differs a great deal from another.
Practical hints that are most important and yet simple to carry out, remedies
that may be taken other than drugs, so that no side effects will be experienced,
and advice regarding food and drink are given in accompanying sections.
